HOW IT RUNS

How a search runs.

INPUTreference photos of the thing — crops from a frame, product shots, anything (jpg, png, webp, bmp), one or many; each is mirrored automatically so a left-facing reference matches a right-facing appearance
SCANSAM2 proposes candidate objects at 2 frames per second; three matchers — DINOv2, SigLIP2, OpenCLIP — judge every candidate against their own calibrated thresholds, and any one can surface a hit
DIALstrict, balanced, or everything — measured precision on surfaced hits of roughly 90% / 70% / 40%, derived from 458 human verdicts
RESULTa confidence-coded timeline per video, timestamps good to the half-second, all three scores stored and shown per hit — and you can preview the exact clip before exporting
EXPORTreal MP4 clips cut to a folder, each with five seconds of context on both sides — a cut may only ever err outward, so the sighting is always fully inside; overlapping hits merge. Alongside: a CSV report, a self-contained shareable HTML report, and a manifest mapping every clip back to its source timeline

A scoreboard grades the three matchers against the cloud verdicts and your own thumbs, and your Agree/Disagree votes can retune the thresholds for the next scan.

THE SECOND OPINION — A TOGGLE, OFF BY DEFAULT

Spotter is complete without the cloud. Flip the toggle and a vision model — Gemini, through OpenRouter, with your own key — gives a second opinion on a candidate crop. It sends the reference images and that one crop, never your video. The privacy envelope is enforced in code: US-only providers, zero retention, no data collection, and it fails closed rather than rerouting. Without a key, scanning and matching work fine.
